Welcome to the Loving Christmas Advent Weblog

The Advent blog has finished the 2013 season with the theme: Like A Little Child. I very much enjoyed making the daily posts, although each year it seems I must write “in the moment”. Perhaps 2014 will find the devotions more prepared ahead of time.

I was inspired by my newest grandson, Caleb, to create simpler devotions that are geared toward all of us having the heart of a little child as we approach our celebration of a babe in a manger, and Our Savior and Lord. The first week celebrates with simplicity in mind. The second week was a celebration of preparation, making things and baking goodies. The third week was one of discovery, the fourth week “Anticipation” to countdown the final days to Christmas..

I have been continuing entries with short posts that have the lyrics to Christmas and Advent carols that I use every year within our devotions at home. I will be happy to save searching for them every year when we wish to sing more than one verse! I hope it helps my visitors here, as well.
Take a look at the ornaments I made at Zazzle, and the corresponding stickers- they are great for Christmas crafts and making your own Jesse Tree ornaments. Be sure to explore the past years devotional posts, there is info on Advent candles, symbols, celebration and ways to celebrate the season.

In 2011 my devotions followed the Jesse Tree path as seen on the Jesse Tree Resource Page. Most of the Advent posts this year are simple meditative thoughts. As a child I loved the Advent Calenders my grandmother sent me, so, of course, this weblog just seemed the natural outcome. May the holiness and the joy of the season be communicated throughout these pages!
