One of the first ways God brought forth His Salvation in the earth was to tell Joseph what his part was in the unfolding prophecy. The name of Jesus was to be very important in signifying the calling and the nature of the Messiah.
“Jesus†is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua which was originally Hoshea (Oshea) (Num. 13:8, 16 – the King James Version of the Bible spells it “Osheaâ€), but changed by Moses into Jehoshua (Num. 13:16; 1 Chr. 7:27), or Joshua. ~WebBible
Earlier indications of what titles the Messiah would hold are listed in Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, but His personal name would be called,”Jesus”. He would show all these other aspects as He lived out His life’s ministry. The privilege of knowing His name, and of using His name would be bestowed on us who believed on Him.
You can plant faith in your heart by believing on the name of Jesus, from there all the faith of salvation grows into a relationship with God.
