When faced with a world full of warring factions we either become inured and turn a blind eye and deaf ear, or we despair at the frivolity of daily life, especially the festivities of life.
How can we endure the pain of a hurting world, and then join in jolly food and fun? It seems impossible. It seems senseless.
But friendship and the truly meaningful things of life grow best in atmospheres of peace. Taking time to eat together, to laugh, to rejoice in the many good things in the world… and yes, even in the people.
Peace does not happen on its own. It requires cultivation and patience. Let your time this week cultivating thoughts and meditations of peacefulness bring fruits of actions. Baking cookies? Stoking feelings of merriment? Make these things your acts of peace and reconciliation.
Nothing is too small or insignificant with this motivation.
