For an Advent wreath, this is the pink candle, or the “Candle of Joy”. We move closer to the celebration of Christmas, and we may make a choice to concentrate on the joyful aspects of the season.
Choosing Joy

This is easier, the more we consider the great riches of Heaven that was given us in God’s Son. Choosing to behold the spiritual benefits that are ours because of Jesus gives cause for rejoicing.
However, it may be more difficult if our hearts are weighed down with cares of the world, and the uncertain pleasures of feeding our desires.
Spiritual rejoicing is something we can choose, even if our Christmas lists are unfulfilled, we are stuck in traffic, or a batch of cookies are burnt.
In fact, joy can bubble up irresistibly when hearing what the shepherds heard, seeing what the angels saw, seeking what the wise men sought.
