Iron"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/78419_iron_lg-144x300.gif\" alt=\"sad iron\" title=\"sad iron\" width=\"144\" height=\"300\" style=\"float:left;\" \/><!--adsense#wht300--><\/div>\n<p>Smooth and wrinkle free is not the epitome of good housekeeping skills any more than the &#8220;white glove test&#8221; (white glove test?), but we still use irons on occasion to take out whatever wrinkles remain after the permanent press cycle.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of places mentioned in scriptures where God evens things out and smooths the wrinkles of man&#8217;s making. One such event was the ministry of John the Baptist, foretold by Isaiah the Prophet :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Isaiah 40:4<br \/>\nEvery valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This was one way of expressing the bringing of equity to a world filled with iniquity. Preparing people&#8217;s hearts for a new Kingdom: &#8220;Prepare ye the way of the Lord&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingdom of God in our lives is pictured like a pressed, clean, garment. White robes without a spot or a wrinkle- the ultimate in carefree and permanently pressed outfits. It comes from a complete change of thinking and living that God implements in our lives through His Spirit.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mrg.bz\/RMR2lP\" width=\"268\" height=\"192\" border=\"0\"><br \/>\nHow do we prepare for such a thing? The preparations that John the Baptist advised are recorded in the following account:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  &#8220;What should we do then?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the crowd asked.<\/p>\n<p> John answered, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>  Even tax collectors came to be baptized. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Teacher,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d they asked, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153what should we do?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t collect any more than you are required to,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he told them.<\/p>\n<p>  Then some soldiers asked him, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And what should we do?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>   He replied, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t extort money and don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accuse people falsely\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbe content with your pay.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--adsense#468grn--><\/p>\n<p>Sing the carol &#8220;O Holy Night&#8221;.<br \/>\nThe Jesse tree ornament is the \tDove.<\/p>\n<p><small><br \/>Photo credit: <a href=\"http:\/\/mrg.bz\/YBYmtg\">irish_eyes<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.morguefile.com\/\">morguefile.com<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Smooth and wrinkle free is not the epitome of good housekeeping skills any more than the &#8220;white glove test&#8221; (white glove test?), but we still use irons on occasion to take out whatever wrinkles remain after the permanent press cycle.
