\nThe Fall
\n 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Did God really say, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcYou must not eat from any tree in the garden\u00e2\u20ac\u2122?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

2 The woman said to the serpent, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcYou must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

4 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You will not certainly die,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the serpent said to the woman. 5 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.<\/p>\n

8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Where are you?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

10 He answered, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

11 And he said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

12 The man said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The woman you put here with me\u00e2\u20ac\u201dshe gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153What is this you have done?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

The woman said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The serpent deceived me, and I ate.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because you have done this,<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Cursed are you above all livestock
\n and all wild animals!
\nYou will crawl on your belly
\n and you will eat dust
\n all the days of your life.
\n15 And I will put enmity
\n between you and the woman,
\n and between your offspring and hers;
\nhe will crush your head,
\n and you will strike his heel.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

16 To the woman he said,<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
\n with painful labor you will give birth to children.
\nYour desire will be for your husband,
\n and he will rule over you.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

17 To Adam he said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcYou must not eat from it,\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Cursed is the ground because of you;
\n through painful toil you will eat food from it
\n all the days of your life.
\n18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
\n and you will eat the plants of the field.
\n19 By the sweat of your brow
\n you will eat your food
\nuntil you return to the ground,
\n since from it you were taken;
\nfor dust you are
\n and to dust you will return.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n

Thoughts:<\/strong><\/div>\n

God’s Word is true. Does He really mean what He says? Yes.<\/p>\n

Some people don’t like that God has told the world what a bad predicament it is in, and how corrupt and unregenerate human beings have become. What is more sinful to modern man than to say something is “sinful”? To judge and discern, to place value and worth on quality of character is disdained. Yet, for material goods, what is more valued than to obtain high quality and receive considerate service? The obvious gap between the two ideas is only one more proof of the general condition of man after the fall. we are only being hypocritical in wanting to be able to value good in “things” we wish for ourselves, but tell God, and those who agree with Him, that we shouldn’t want value in actions and character. To try to shush those who want a better deal when it comes to how we should behave collectively and individually.<\/p>\n

Why speak of this at Christmas? What is jolly and cheering about that<\/em> thought?<\/p>\n

If you understand the great joy of Christmas is the good news of a salvation of such great proportions that even the angels rejoice over it. <\/p>\n
