The Christmas Story gives us glimpses into God’s heart. His choice to bring his son into the world through Mary highlights how God values humility, precious faith, and sacrifice.<\/p>\n

We aren’t told of Mary’s beautiful face or fashionable clothing. Braids and well kept appearance aren’t mentioned. It doesn’t mean these weren’t attributes , but that they weren’t what was important about a person that found favor in God’s eyes.<\/p>\n

It is different with Sarah. Abrahams wife\u00c2\u00a0is described as most attractive, and her character though virtuous, might have been also\u00c2\u00a0had some cracks of impetuous decisions and opinion.\u00c2\u00a0Whereas Mary was very young when giving birth to the Savior, Sarah was quite old when the son of the promise was born.<\/p>\n

Yet in both we see a mother’s love and sacrifice;\u00c2\u00a0 great trust in\u00c2\u00a0God; obedience in waiting for God’s plan to unfold.<\/p>\n

A Cradle<\/h2>\n

newborn cradle<\/p><\/div>\nEventually Sarah’s faith was rewarded with the longed for son. Perhaps that cradle had waited for years in readiness.<\/p>\n

It is a symbol of the fact that God remembers his promises, but we can also see it as a reminder of the love that the Lord places in a mother.<\/p>\n

The desire to see children happy and fulfilled causes mother’s everywhere to try to do the best for their children, to make efforts during holidays to put a smile on their faces.<\/p>\n

Today we can imagine how very thankful Sarah was for her child Isaac.<\/p>\n

Thankful for motherhood, and for mothers<\/h4>\n

Dear Father in Heaven,<\/p>\n

We thank you for the mother that you gave us, and for what we know of love and care through her love. We thank you that you care for us as a mother would, and are ready at all times to help us grow. You delight in our successes, and we thank you for the kind of success that results in our characters becoming more thoughtful and loving during this season.<\/p>\n

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.<\/p>\n

Reaching back in time to a very old carol that takes the form of a Mother’s lullaby for her baby. It causes us to remember the sorrow of the mother’s in Bethlehem at the hand of Herod, also.<\/p>\n
