Fearful that He will judge you? Happy that He loves you? Unsure where you stand, and whether you have a place in the Kingdom of God?<\/p>\n<p>When people are afraid they won&#8217;t be accepted, often they avoid contact. This especially happens when people consider getting to know God.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Avoiding God&#8221; can range from keeping a dormant view that was handed to them \u00a0(from someone else such as a person or an institution) all the way to simply believing there is no one there.<\/p>\n<p>But in the middle of this sometimes complicated view, in the month of December, comes the celebration of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3622\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/gift-1760899_640-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"gift of love\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><br \/>\nChristmas reveals the joy that can come from meeting with God and getting to know his real nature. The Spirit of generosity and benevolence that we often call &#8220;The Spirit of Christmas&#8221; is actually the revelation of God&#8217;s love and wish to accept us.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Glory to God in the highest,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">And on earth peace,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Good will toward men.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Jesus is the Reason We Celebrate<\/h3>\n<p>Jesus is &#8220;God With Us&#8221;, <em>Immanuel<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can tell this is one of my favorite verses; it&#8217;s the second time I&#8217;ve quoted it this season. But it bears repeating, this invitation of Jesus is the very core of the message of Christmas!<\/p>\n<h3>Fear Not<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-990 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/i-ang4.jpeg\" alt=\"angels we have heard on high\" width=\"100\" height=\"118\" \/>Angels are God&#8217;s messengers, and throughout the Nativity story they repeat: &#8220;Fear not&#8221;. \u00a0It is still said to us today&#8230; don&#8217;t be afraid to approach God, with faith, with prayers, in fellowship.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Allow God to surprise you with the gift of reconciliation.<\/li>\n<li>Receive joy as you become more aware that you are loved by your Creator.<\/li>\n<li>Believe that Jesus Christ came to give you life, hope, and purpose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For more thoughts on the celebration of this season, and discovering more of the good news that God has made a way for us to know Him, and understand the great love He has for us&#8230; explore these posts.<\/p>\n<h4>Devotionals for Day 16<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2006, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/18\/dec-18\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Jesse Tree<\/a> was a new idea to me, and became the topic for Day 16 of Advent that year.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2007\/12\/17\/the-virgin-mary-december-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Virgin Mary<\/a> contemplations for this day.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2008\/12\/16\/olives-and-olive-branches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olives and their symbolism<\/a>\u00a0were the subject for 2008<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/14\/16-god-promises-he-loves-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God&#8217;s Promises for Day 16: He Loves You<\/a>\u00a0from year 2009<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/15\/17-hat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What can a hat tell you about Christmas?<\/a> You might be surprised. 2009<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovingchristmas.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/12\/advent-day-sixteen-a-tower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Habakkuk&#8217;s Watch <\/a>\u00a0in 2011&#8217;s journey through the Jesse Tree symbols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Today&#8217;s Time of Sharing<\/h4>\n<div class=\"su-box su-box-style-default\" id=\"\" style=\"border-color:#58768a;border-radius:3px;max-width:none\"><div class=\"su-box-title\" style=\"background-color:#8ba9bd;color:#000000;border-top-left-radius:1px;border-top-right-radius:1px\">Practice With Each Other<\/div><div class=\"su-box-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"border-bottom-left-radius:1px;border-bottom-right-radius:1px\">Christ came down as a baby,<br \/>\nlived life with all our weaknesses and difficulties so that we could meet God face to face.
