Christmas trees were traditionally decorated with apples, and apples remind us of the need for the Savior. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, the wages of sin, death, came to visit the whole of the earth. We see the results everywhere. But the good news is that Jesus has come, and He has delivered us from those fateful decisions… decisions to sin that came down through the ancestry of mankind, through the ancestry of our parents, and through our own making in our lives to this day.
Genesis 2:4-3:13 reminds us of how we fell into the mess we are in today: Sin. But don’t forget the good news! 1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
We can look at apples two ways: the beginning of our woes and disease, or the health of our new life in Christ. Jesus is the good fruit, He produces the same in our lives.
Hang some representations of fruit on your tree, consider the way fruit represents both good and bad outcomes of our actions. Decide to have good fruit in your life, and look to Christ to produce it, let it get watered with the Word of God, and cultivated with decisions and actions which allow it to flourish.
