Scripture:
2 Corinthians 1: 20
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
or as the NKJ has it:
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Thoughts:
When you look at the promises of God, or hear them, do you often sigh and hope that it is true for you? Do you hope that you will be blessed with health, with providence, or with God’s favor? And yet, you aren’t sure that God would want to give the promises to you… is there some nagging doubt? Then today’s meditation is for you.
Today, look toward the fact that Jesus has come, and that for all who believe on his name and trust in him- he is the resounding “YES!” of God to all those promises, for you. Amen means true, or truly. So if we are saying Amen to a prayer we are saying that we truly want that to be done by God for us. Well, Jesus is that “truly” spoken desire of God for you. He wants you to have all his promises of heaven and eternal life. He wants you to have each one of the promises that we will contemplate over the coming weeks. Know that no one wants your good more than the Heavenly Father, and He has proved that through sending Jesus here for you.
Our ornament today is the Shepherd’s Crook, to remember that Jesus is the Good Shepherd of our souls, and to think of the fact that his birth was first announced to simple shepherds faithfully watching their flocks. If you dont’ have a shepherd’s crook I bet you have something shaped like it: the candy cane! Hang some on your tree and eat one just to remind yourself of the sweet promises of God. Read all about the candy cane, here.
