Precious Truth: the Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world. He is our peace.

Today’s Reading from The Word
Isaiah 11: 6-9
6 The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
7 The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
9 They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.
Hopes for true peace are perennial and there are summits, treaties, and speeches galore to the end that peace should be accomplished.
But what success have they had?
One of the messages that God has attached to the salvation He has provided is that of peace: peace for men of good will, peace that passes understanding, and ruled by one who is sovereign of Peace, the Prince of Peace. The passage in Isaiah extends the realm of peace to nature itself, such a beautiful vision of all animals at peace with one another. It is the hope for peace fulfilled.
There is a way to peace, but it is through the humble door of Christ. You don’t have to wait for world leaders to agree, or for the rest of the world to get along with each other – peace can start in your own heart when the Lamb of God is given the throne in your own heart.
Experience the peace that passes understanding, because it is not reliant upon outward circumstance or on your willpower or even upon actions. It is given through the kind gift of God’s love for you, and vouchsafed by His presence in your life.
That was what the angels were talking about.
