(The Pink Candle)
This week just seems to bubble with joy. It is getting so close to Christmas that so long as we don’t panic about the progress of preparations we should have plenty stoke our sense of gladness and joy.
If you would look for the word in Strong’s Concordance, a definition given brings a new perspective to the usual way of thinking of it. The synonyms “gladness”, “cheer “, “rejoicing”, and others are the meanings we have of the word joy, but the Greek expresses it, “grace recognized“.
What a beautiful thought: recognition of God’s grace bringing a wellspring of glad feeling. Bubbling over.
The idea is that we become aware of His favor. What is more in tune with the meaning of Christmas than this thought? God making us aware of the favor he is extending to us in His Son?
Angels sent, “bending near the earth”; the star appearing in the east; the wise men searching him out; there are many signs and messages to spread the word that God is extending His favor to men and women, boys and girls everywhere.
This might be a good occasion to have soap bubbles and a wand to blow some bubbles and feel the joy of the season.
