…Your favorite things? What are some of your favorite things?
Do you find a sense of happiness in special belongings? Or in people? People who make you feel loved and cherished?
Everyone is looking for something to make them happy. Joy doesn’t even come into the equation in the quest. Good feelings, satisfaction-however temporary, things acquired, goals gained. Happiness is equated with accumulation. No where is that more obvious than at this Christmas season, and business depends on it.
But what if we looked into the manger and simply wondered at the fact that jesus came down to be among us? That “the word became flesh and dwelt among us”. Could we make room for this joy? Could we carve out a space to find our happiness in the fact that we can be friends with God, and more, that we can be adopted and made sons?
Not everyone is happy with the family they are born into. It isn’t a choice that is given us, but God has chosen us for His family, and invites us to choose Him.
This is the happiness that everyone is looking for, to belong to someone who truly knows and loves us.
It is a gift of matchless value, that never fades, breaks, or goes away. It grows in preciousness daily.
Let’s open it today, this present waits for us to experience and it springs up new everyday, not just on Christmas.
