Love and fear cannot co-exist within the same heart.
Fears abound in this world, and at times threaten to swallow up all the hope, trust, and love. Not surprising since those who manufacture fear have found it to be one of the best ways to bend people to their will.
The antidote to such fear mongering is not containment or force. What is needed is love.
In the Christmas Story
One thing I learn about about love from listening to the Christmas story, is that it can start quite small. Love can begin in the most obscure corner of the world. It starts in the heart of a woman like Mary, in the decision of a man like Joseph, in an unexpected place like a stable. In someone as new and helpless as a baby.
The important thing about love is that it starts.
When all else is spent and gone, love remains. It heals, it builds, it overcomes.
Stoking Love
What can you do to add to love in your family, and in the world you touch around you today? Do you believe your small acts of kindness or words softened by care and consideration will matter in the world at large?
Do you look at the news and allow fear to take hold, or is it a motivation to bring more good, kindness, love, concern, and compassion into the world?
We get to make up our mind which we will add to, the fear… or the love
