A Promise with Many Colors
God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.â€
Noah’s Thankfulness
Imagine surviving the worst catastrophe, only to view the new rainbow in the sky and hear such a gracious promise: no one will ever again see this kind of complete destruction in the way you have.
It was a second chance for all of mankind.
If you have ever experienced someone giving you a second chance, then you know the gratefulness of a clean slate that allows you to start again.
What might be the effect of this on how you decide to live afterwards?
Would you be:
- kinder
- more patient
- more generous
- grateful
- make better use of your time
Or would you make other changes?
Advent Activity
Today make an ornament of one of the animals that entered the Ark. You can color a picture, use clay, or pom poms to craft a cute baby animal.
If you need an idea… here is a cute lion noteholder to make.
