No other prophet or priest had God say of him, “a man after my own heart” like King David. He understood how God responded to thanksgiving. It became recorded in Psalms that instruct God’s people to this day.
The Psalms instruct, foretell prophetic things, some lead us in worship, many exalt God. We find solace, guidance, and revelation in them.
Son of David
This helps us understand why the Messiah is called “Son of David”. It wasn’t just that the Christ was born in the lineage of David, it was this heart that loved God, this spirit of thanksgiving and praise that showed what type of person is cherished in the heart of God.
Psalm 118:28-29
“You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.”
King David left us an example of praise, thanksgiving, and worship.
