Promises to David, Foretelling Christ’s Kingship
2 Samuel 7:14-16
“I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.”

Planting Seeds
Today’s Advent Thoughts
Who plants seeds in the dead of winter? Actually, lots of people do. Timing depends on the need of the future plants and one must know how early in winter to start planting them. Most seed packets have this information, and many gardeners learn timing by trial and error. The seasons hold times for seedtime and harvest.
Tender plants like tomatoes are started in winter seasons inside a warm place. Hardy plants may be sown in cold months and wait until spring to see the sprouts.
Spiritual Seed and Harvest Times
In the Spirit, seedtime and harvest overlap.
In other words it is always a good time to sow seeds which bear spiritual fruit. Giving, showing kindness, growing patience, are all perennially welcome.
