photo by dominic alvesGifts and giving have taken center stage during Advent. We buy and wrap, we put some coins into the charity buckets, but what if we opened Christ-centered thoughts each day? What if we delivered them to family and friends, wrapped in thoughtful phrases and decorated with ribbons of our time and attention?

It is rather a modern idea to so highly value time and attention rather than preparing and giving tangible, material things. But the experience of joy is often wrapped within such efforts. When the shepherds were told of the Good Tidings, did they stop to bring sacrifices or offerings?

They came with exhilaration and joy, full of thoughts of the promise of God, the message of the angels, and the hope they felt. Let the devotion of today and time remaining as we approach Christmas day increase our communication of kindness, sharing words of hope and peace.
